2/28 Berkshire East Family Ski Trip

This is a great opportunity to bring the whole family out skiing!  Berkshire East is the perfect mountain for beginners to learn and you can rent everything you need. No matter what your ski level is, you will have a great time skiing with Troop 540!

3/13 - 3/15, 2015 Wilderness First Aid Training
The Philmont crews are required to have a minimum of 2 adults and 2 scouts for each crew trained in Wilderness First Aid in order to attend a trek at Philmont. Please sign-up ASAP, register ends 12/19, 8 PM. read more ...

3/14 Connecticut University of Scouting Courses
This is a great training opportunity for adults new to the troop or experienced adults / older scouts who would like to learn new skills. The registration deadline is March 6th.  Each student can attend seven courses during the day including: Conservation & Service Projects for Boy Scouts, Eagle Project & Eagle Project Coaching, and Making a '50 Miler' Hike a Reality. read more ...

Please join our annual cooking contest on this campout. We are very excited to see how much our scouts have learned about proper nutrition and gourmet cooking in the wilderness! Let’s see what the scouts can cook up!

4/11 - 4/15 Washington D.C. Campout

Please join us on a Spring Break trip to Washington DC!!  We have limited registration on this event so sign up soon!  We will leave Saturday, April 11 and return Wednesday April 15th.  We will spend 3 days touring Washington DC - one day as a Troop and two days as patrols.  We will eat as a group - with a rotating duty roster so everyone (scouts and adults) participates in food prep, cleanup, etc.

Do you like to hike?  If you like to hike, this is the campout for you! Come join the hiking and backpacking in the Presidential mountain range in the White Mountains, New Hampshire.

7/12 - 7/18 Summer Camp JNW - Ashford, CT

Do you feel it? The hot and humid breeze blowing across Goss pond.  Troop 540 will be attending summer camp: July 12-18, 2015. Please register on the website if you have an interest in attending summer camp.

Philmont Trek 2015 - Training Hikes

Practice hikes are posted on the Troop Calendar through December 2014.  Questions about the hikes should be directed to Alex Kaminski.  Wilderness First Aid training (WFA) is not required for all participants but is HIGHLY recommended.  Questions about WFA training can be directed to Kathleen Seitz, Dennis Rhim or Jack Cannon.

We have 5 spots left for Scouts.  If we gain two additional Scouts up to a max of 18, Adults 1-6 will participate with the remaining adults as alternates. The dates for the treks are August 3-15, 2015.  We will spend a few days ahead of arriving at Philmont on 8/3 in activities acclimating to the altitude.  Estimated departure is Saturday August 1, 2015 with two nights in Colorado before arriving at Philmont.
